The Company
Dyyno, a startup company based in Palo Alto, CA, developed an exciting and innovative consumer services enabling gamers to broadcast live their gameplay to as many people as they like.  Dyyno is in a pre-release product development stage and experiences a tremendous demand from the gaming industry. Dyyno is looking to expand its sales and business development team to meet the market demand.
Dyyno was founded by seasoned entrepreneurs and is funded by top-tier VCs.

The Role
This Director will report to the VP of Sales.  The primary focus of this position will be to secure business relationships with gaming publishers, gaming community sites and other potential partners in the gaming industry.  This execution oriented position will identify, evaluate and pursue the strategic and financial prospects of current and new market opportunities as well as medium and long term corporate growth by initiating proposals and closing deals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify partnership opportunities with gaming publishers, gaming community sites, pro-gamers league organizations and independent developers
  • Act as client champion for current and future accounts
  • Expand Dyyno’s reach by creating new relationships in existing accounts
  • Use your client development and planning skills to increase revenue on an account by account basis

The Candidate Profile
We are seeking a Director of Sales with prior experience in the gaming industry, who can serve as the ‘face’ for Dyyno in its several dealings with a wide range of constituencies.  This individual should be a commercially oriented executive with enough industry credibility and gravitas to deal effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of sales, business development and/or customer-facing engagement responsibility, within gaming industry.
  • Proven track record in securing affiliation programs, revenue sharing and advertisement deals within the gaming and/or internet industries.
  • Proven “rolodex” of worldwide contacts in the gaming industry in particular within companies involved in online gaming and MMO’s.
  • Proven track record in meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Excellent communication, problem solving skills, customer facing skills including presentation, written and verbal communication, and a sensitivity to Customer Excellence.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • The ability to work effectively in a young high growth company with changing priorities and aggressive growth goals.

In terms of style, the ideal executive will be highly entrepreneurial and willing to roll up his/her sleeves.
Some key competencies for the position include:

  1. Industry Knowledge: demonstrated through a good understanding of the gaming and entertainment industries, and the requisite technical and business knowledge necessary to be successful.  Additionally, he/she must be familiar with relevant industry trends and players, and a strong understanding of the commercial dynamics of the business.
  2. Results Orientation demonstrated through identifying and striving for ways to make things better. Given the different avenues for growth, this individual will have exhibited a resiliency in his/her previous roles and will have been able to make swift course corrections in order to achieve breakthrough results. The ideal candidate will have a track record of constantly “raising the bar” and meeting and exceeding these challenging goals in previous roles.
  3. Leadership/Stature gained by management experience in well-known institutions with a record of success. The ideal candidate will be well known in the gaming industry and be well respected. He/she will have the gravitas to effectively partner with and balance the demands of the various internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Strong negotiating/influencing skills as evidenced by the individual’s ability to create genuine and effective business alliances and partnerships. The person should show integrity in the way that he/she approaches deals and partners and have a reputation as a practical, tough but fair negotiator, capable of creating win-win solutions under tight timelines and high scrutiny.
